Case Study : Poetry Recital

The Brief

Zest Marquees received an enquiry for marquee hire for a Poetry Recital evening. Sounding like a simple request; this was no ordinary event! It was based in the grounds of an 18th-century rectory in Northamptonshire with amazing gardens with a different feel to each of the six "rooms" garden designs. 

The Challenges

• Design and build a marquee solution that complemented the formal yet stylish garden design for the special evening 

• The site is a 3-acre contemporary garden with many options for the location – where does one choose !!

- Access involved quite a walk from the parking location, so a 4-man team was required

  Ensure the marquee is safe and suitable for poetry readers and their audience.

• Situate the marquee neatly within the available lawn space outside the Old Rectory building, neatly complementing borders and landscape features within the marquee

The Solution

Following the initial discussion and having listened carefully to the client's needs, Zest Marquees designed and provided a 9m x 18m marquee on the main lawn near the rectory.

• All transparent walls for the primary 18m "front" side to ensure the marquee felt "inside" the garden

Solid walls elsewhere created the right ambience for the primary purpose of the evening – the poetry recital

• Incorporating garden and terrace features to create an enjoyable environment for all poetry evening participants and attendees

•      Close fitting to the Old Rectory garden entrances 

•      Clear window wall panels on the entire 18m length to bring the garden and marque together to allow views of the course
