Case Study : Getting ready for the exams

The Brief

Magdalen College School, Brackley, required an area for pupils and teachers for exam weeks. The school marquee hire would create space for pupils to drop off bags/coats to meet the restriction system applied to the taking of exams. It also provides cover from the sun and protection from the rain in the period shortly before the exams.

The Challenges

To build a marquee swiftly within under strict vigilance relating to pupil proximity. The marquee had to be safe and suitable for use by pupils and teachers for exam purposes. The structure had to be functional and aesthetically pleasing, keeping school standards and principles. 

The marquee had to be sited neatly and safely with the available grass area outside the main school buildings to create the isolation area required. 

The Solution

Zest Marquees considered the requirements gathered in the initial discussion with the school and designed and provided a 9m x 15m marquee on long-term hire.

The set-up included carpet overlaid on the tarp to protect the ground and ensure the marquee was dry during the long-term hire period. Fully opening side walls were deployed, allowing enhanced air circulation during usage. 

Deployment was rapid – from the initial contact to use. The marquee was set up in an enclosed grass area; the location used the natural features of the garden and building to create a positive visual feature element for the whole school. 

The Result

Zest Marquees were able to design a solution which met our requirements exactly and fit perfectly within the desired area in the school. It does not look out of place. A great outcome with very little notice and a perfect example of how Zest Marquees can deploy its resources quickly and efficiently to meet the client’s requirements.
